Earth Day Cooking Class Collab with Ayten Salahi / April 22nd

April 22, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm MDT

Free

Fallon is collaborating with Ayten Salahi, creator of the Planetary Health Collective (@planetaryhealthRD). They will both be sharing their knowledge of nutrition, cooking, and tips on sustainability!

What Will We Be Cooking?

  • We’re making a miso butter beans with a zhoug sauce. The beans become a creamy bowl of umami – plus the zhoug, a spicy cilantro sauce, balances the dish! See ingredient list below.

What will the live, virtual cooking class look like?

  • Cooking classes take place on zoom, Fallon will be leading the recipe, with participants cooking along at the same time!  Fallon will answer questions from participants and factor in time for discussion throughout the class.
  • Once you sign up, you’ll get the recipe emailed to you. The recipe will also have many substitutes to ensure that participants can make the recipe using what they have available in their home. Fallon is available to help participants tailor the recipe to what they have available, taste preferences, and dietary needs.
  • Extra materials will be sent to help participants practice their skills of creating nutritious and tasty meals at home.

Ingredient list (substitutions can be made, Fallon and Ayten can give recommendations). **Full recipe will be sent when you sign up!**

  • Ingredients: Canned butter beans (any any white bean), garlic, oil, miso (optional can subst broth), jalapeno/spicy peppers, cilantro or parsley (or any soft herb), cardamom, cumin, salt, lemon juice

This class is donations-based! All money raised will go to Off Their Plates, a grass roots organization providing nutritious meals to healthcare workers during the covid-19 pandemic. Please send donations via venmo, to @fallon-bader (suggested donation, $10) she will then donate the $ to Off Their Plates.
